Indoor Activities/Practices

Psycho-social self
Take photos of children playing and stick them on the floor. Encourage children to look at themselves and find their friends.

During nappy change time talk with children about what they have been playing with and if they have enjoyed their play.

Physical Self
Felt board activities. Encourage E to put up and pull off felt board cutouts.

Building and connecting blocks. Encourage fine motor skills by helping children manipulate the blocks to build.

Thinking and Communicating Self
Encourage children to each have a turn singing nursery rhymes out the front of the group. Help them sing the words of the song through modeling

Show J pictures of animals then write the word down for him to see and encourage him to try to write or draw.

Outdoor Activities/Practices

Psycho-social self
Write children’s names outside on the concrete with chalk to help children recognize their names.

Mirror play and dress ups. Children are encouraged to look at their reflections whilst dresses up and to recognize what they look like.

Physical Self
Encourage children to grasp spades in the sandpit and use them to dig and fill buckets with sand

Music and movement. Encourage children to jump, turn around and clap to music

Gloop or shaving cream play. Allow children to explore

Thinking and Communicating Self
Read stories outside with pictures of things found outside. Encourage children to look for objects they saw in the book

Provide large boxes with lids, practice opening and closing the lid, putting objects inside and pulling them out and finding hidden objects.
