Preparing Children for Schools

Busy Bees Kindy

Our Kindy room is for ages 3.6 years until they go to school. The educators in this room would like to give you, as new children & families to our room, just a quick overview of the running and operation of the room. We operate the room along the lines of any kindy room, which encourages and develops the children's abilities, leading them into school life and routines. The programme we use is the Early Years Learning Framework. Information and pictures are displayed within the room, so please take the time to look at the children's artwork; creations and completed activities are also displayed in the room so the children can view their accomplishments. We also give families insights into the programmes via newsletters, Facebook, and Seesaw, and verbally communicate with families. We invite families to participate in our programme as much as possible.

Our Kindergarten Program: Where Confident Beginnings Take Flight

Walkley Heights Child Care Centre offers kindergarten programs designed to give children aged 3.5 years and above a confident, joyful transition into school life. Families across Modbury, SA 5092, and the broader Tea Tree Gully area are welcome to enquire about enrolment.

Eligibility Age and SA Requirements

Our Kindy room is for children aged 3.5 years until they commence school. In South Australia, "preschool" and "kindergarten" refer to the same thing. All South Australian children are entitled to a funded preschool place in the year before full-time school. Families can choose to receive their funded 4-year-old preschool place at a partnered long-day care service. Children must meet all immunisation requirements (No Jab, No Play) before attending.

Play-Based Learning and EYLF Alignment

Our programs are grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and delivered by qualified early childhood teachers. Within our Busy Bee Kindergarten Room, educators build experiences around each child's individual strengths, interests, and cultural background. Skills developed may include independence and self-regulation, early communication and writing foundations, listening and group participation, and cooperative play and social problem-solving.

Fees and Child Care Subsidy Overview

Fees are discussed directly with families at enrolment. The Australian Government's Child Care Subsidy (CCS) may significantly reduce out-of-pocket costs. From 5 January 2026, all CCS-eligible families can access at least 72 hours of subsidised child care per fortnight (3 days per week) under the 3 Day Guarantee. Payments are made directly to the centre, and families pay the gap. Confirm your CCS eligibility via MyGov linked to Centrelink before enrolment.
